Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, John Christy has a distinguished 35-year career in emergency services, primarily with the San Francisco Fire Department. His roles included Paramedic, Firefighter-Paramedic, and Paramedic Captain. Towards the end of his service, he led the Stress Unit, focusing on supporting fire department members in high-stress scenarios. His efforts were recognized with several awards, including Firefighter of the Year and the Meritorious Conduct Award.
After overcoming Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) himself, John spearheaded the Peer Support Group at the SFFD, bringing a proactive instead of a reactive way of thinking and building resilience from within. He has since transitioned to a career as a professional certified coach, working with business leaders to manage stress, trauma, and overwhelm. John employs ontological coaching methods to help his clients build resilience and maintain effective leadership under pressure.
